Gary
Marsh, founder of Marsh Marketing, is an accomplished professional with more
than 20 years of experience overseeing successful corporate and media
communications, media planning, promotion, publicity, internet marketing,
reputation management and crisis communications services. As a marketing advisor
and corporate storyteller, Gary develops and executes strategic campaigns and
business development initiatives that are tailored to increase mind share and
market share for the companies he represents, and in a variety of industries
including real estate, professional services, golf, hospitality, clean
tech/solar and water purification. Supporting local, regional and national
clients, Gary specializes in managing client campaigns and budgets (including a
host of talented subcontractors), providing creative direction, writing,
publicity and reputation management consulting.
Gary has built one of the most recognizable boutique marketing communications firms in the U.S. His firm has generated thousands of press clips for clients in mainstream media including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and dozens of regional and daily newspapers, business journals, trade publications and industry magazines. Marsh Marketing clients have appeared on local television broadcasts and participated in speaking roles as experts on numerous event panels.
Prior to starting Marsh Marketing in 1998, Gary was Western Region Corporate Communications Manager for Cushman & Wakefield. Located in the San Francisco office of this international real estate brokerage services firm, Gary supported 22 offices and managed ten PR and Advertising firms west of Chicago. Before working at Cushman & Wakefield, Gary was a staff reporter at the San Jose Business Journal covering economic development, real estate, hospitality, and retail industry sectors. Earlier in his career, he held sales and management positions with Raytec and Bruner and was a top producer in California, Arizona and Nevada, selling capital equipment that transformed potable water to varying degrees of high purity for industrial and manufacturing purposes using filtration, ion exchange and reverse osmosis technologies.
Gary is also
an experienced freelance writer with articles published on behalf of his clients
in a variety of media outlets. In addition, he has published dozens of his own
articles on miscellaneous topics in regional and national magazines, including
Urban Land Magazine and Outdoor Apparel. He has served as a media expert witness
for corporate litigation cases. Gary’s pro bono work has supported the
Humane Society, the First Tee organization and residential building initiatives
in Marin County, among others. Marsh Marketing has generously contributed to
dozens of local and regional causes and charities, as well as national affairs
or disasters, such as the surviving families of the 9.11 attack in New York,
Hurricane Katrina and recently, the clintonbushhaitifund.org to help rebuild the
Caribbean island after the disastrous earthquake in January 2010.
Gary earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of
Colorado at Boulder. During his senior year, Gary served as a feature stories
writer and intern with the Boulder Daily Camera and concurrently was a
contributing editor at CU’s Campus press.
